It's about that time again! With August just around the corner, we are starting to receive our fall merchandise. Our newest shipment is three styles of shoes from Apepazza. An Italian brand and popular in Europe, Apepazzas are sure to appeal to sophisticated shoe lovers. The purple Simba flat with the embellished toe will definately make a statement. The two booties are great staples to have to complete your fall wardrobe. The Pavia adds interesting detailing with the zipper at the heel, while the slingback style of the Parma allows for wear through the seasons. All three shoes retail for under $200. Both Nashville stores carry Apepazza shoes.

Not Your Mama's Capri...

Hudson Jean's 'Emily' super skinny crop stretch jean

"My legs are too short...They'll make my hips look wide...I'm not in my twenties, I can't pull that off...." Each of these phrases have echoed from dressing rooms for years. While shoppers have criticized everything from platforms, to leggings, to the color yellow for goodness sakes, perhaps no trend has come under fire more than the controversial skinny jean. For others of us who know better, the skinny jean has been a staple item for several seasons. As a stylist, it has been my pleasure to introduce many women, and men alike, to the surprisingly flattering, usually comforabtle and always fashionable world of the skinny jean. I mean afterall, what other pant can show off your stilletto, not drag under your flip flop and slide perfectly into your boot?! Now that's versatility, ladies and gentlemen... and a wise investment, if I do say so myself.


This season, we skinny-jean-lovers have been introduced, or shall we say re-introduced to an effortlessly sexy style that came and went around the late 90s/ early 2000s. About as threatening as Y2K, the capri pant was an easy look to try and allowed everyone from teengae fashionistas to stylish grandmas the option to show a little leg. This look had worked for the Grease generation, and even still, it made sense. I'll never forget the first time, in 7th grade, I wore my new black capris. The guys didn't get it, but I didn't care; afterall, they could choke on their pooka-shell necklaces, and I persoanally didn't understand why their AE cargo shorts need boast 15 pockets? Let's just say, the capri worked... and I knew I looked good. A decade later, fashion has evolved. Needless to say, most of us realized more than 5 pockets was slightly excessive and traded our cargos in for a more tailored, less Army-Ranger look. Still, expert denim companies such as Hudson Jeans remember the popularity of the capri pant and, in fusing this style with the versatile skinny, have created a hot look for summer.


Why then, you ask, is Stacy London continuing to toss capris weekly on What Not To Wear? Unlike the capri pants of my middle school days, today's cropped pants have a sexier, edgier, more-elongating look. One key difference, the crop is only slightly above the ankle; also, stiff denim blends, create a tailored, sleek look. If you see a pleat... run! Today's cropped skinny, like the traditional skinny jean, should allow for a sexy night time look with a completely exposed pump or wedge, while transitioning nicely into day, shamelessly showing off a tanned ankle and cute summer flat. And looking forward into fall, who's to know what's hiding easily beneath that riding boot? We won't tell. Today is Terrah's last day (and we refuse to let her go)! We are incredibly excited for what the future holds for both herself and her husband, Hunter. Prophetik Fashion Show at Posh

Last week, Franklin-based designer Jeff Garner displayed his new spring and summer collection for his sustainable clothing line Prophetik.


The show, which took place in the courtyard behind Posh boutique in Hillsboro Village, was a hit among label-loving locals and faithful followers of the eco-friendly line.


As models strutted down the grassy catwalk, live music from an Australian band filled the air. A mid-show tango performance added to the excitement of the affair.


Prophetik recently appeared at Fashion Week for the British Fashion Council and is currently featured in Eco-Age, actor Colin Firth's (of Bridge Jones' Diary and Love Actually) London boutique.


A portion of event proceeds went to the Asian Elephant Art & Conservation Project. Prophetik's partnership with the foundation allows the elephants to paint on Garner's organic silk and hemp fabric with their trunks, creating distinct designs used in some of the line's most unique pieces.

YMC is a tidy British brand for men and women, utilizing tasteful stripes and patterns as well as subtle uses of color. Endovanera is a little more goth-chic. Focusing on darker colors, this LA-based brand leans more toward New York punk. Shades of Greige (not pictured) is a men's brand that brings economy to high fashion, which we all know is not easily found! It has gained a reputation being sold on such sites as Revolve Clothing because of its high-brow simplicity and low-brow prices. What more could you ask for? Prophetik Fashion Show - March 19th

Please join us next Thursday night, March 19th for a HUGE party and fashion show for Prophetik's A/W '09 Preview. Prophetik seeks to provide clothing to inspire a sense of awareness with the self, the needs of others, and an overall conscience for the wellbeing of the planet. They strive for sustainability, using organic cottons, low-impact production, low-impact maintenance, and recylability. Prophetik supports a number of charities with a focus on land conservation, working with the Asian Elephant Art & Conservatory Project, raising funds to buy land for elephants that are begging in the streets. Elephant Art trains the elephants to paint on Prophetik's organic silk and hemp fabric with their trunks. This artwork is sold to help sustain and protect elephant populations, as well as improve the welfare of domesticated elephants.

This Spring, look out for these sweet new brands at Posh: Schmoove shoes and Super sungasses. Schmoove specializes in dress shoe look-a-likes with tennis shoe bottoms. They are very reasonably priced and extremely cool! Super is an italian company, whose sweet Wayfarer-esque stylings have been spotted on Kayne West, Jessica Alba, and CSS, just to name a few. GET STOKED!

Bringing Smiles to Patients One Step at a Time

Recently, Posh was contacted by Seychelles & BC Footwear with a story. Without going into too much detail, Seycelles and BC had received word that their shoe, The Wildlife Preserve (pictured above) had been purchased by a nurse at our very own Vanderbilt hospital. This nurse had taken it upon herself to wear the shoe while at work to bring a little joy to her patients. BC & Seychelles were so moved at hearing this that they offered to send Posh an entire case of The Wildlife Preserve so that we could distribute them to Vandy Nurses. We are taking the liberty of doing this in hopes of inspiring a smile. I mean, just look at them. They are cute!

The Holly Couch Collection: Profit dollars benefit at-risk youth

The Holly Couch Collection is a beautiful new line of jewelry that we have started carrying at Posh. Each one of Holly's pieces are handmade and individually unique. All of Holly's proceeds go to her favorite charities (all listed on her website). Her current project is "The Holly R. Couch Scholarship Fund". This scholarship was developed specifically for an inner-city or at-risk youth to attend college on a full scholarship. She is a talented designer with a big heart and Posh is so excited to be apart of her efforts.

This is a guilt-free gift to yourself or someone else during the Holidays because you know your money is going to a good cause. It could also be a perfect Valentine's gift! Her work ranges from feminine necklaces to elegant earrings and bracelets, perfect for everyday or a special night.

Our Hillsboro Village Posh will now be open on Sundays for the Holiday Season. Store hours will be from 12pm to 5pm. We want to make it as convenient as possible for everyone to get that perfect gift for the Holidays!

If you missed out on Sam Edleman's Ginger gladiator flat this summer, don't fret Nilla is here! What is Nilla you ask, she is only the hottest selling gladiator heel for strutting around town or anywhere to be seen. STYLIST PICK OF THE WEEK: LBJ (Little Black Jean)

Move over Little Black Dress (aka LBD) there is a new "Must Have" in town. I've fallen head over heels in love with the J BRAND 14'' Cigarette Jean in Jett.

It has all the components of the perfect LBJ:

1. Wear them with everything! Pair them with flats, heels, boots, or tennis shoes - a t-shirt or silk blouse. They're perfect for casual or dressy occasions.

2. Spandax is something you want to wear - especially if its blended into your jean. This LBJ is made of 2% Spandex and 98% cotton. This means that they will stretch in all the places you may need a little extra room.

3. Flattering for all shapes, sizes, and are my go-to jean when I'm having a "fat day".

4. JBRAND makes the most comfortable jean I've ever worn. When discussing how comfortable these jeans are with a customer, I say that you could literally sleep in them. ( I've had countless customers come back (even the next day) to tell me how they'd sleep in them if they could - and want to purchase another pair!)

5. They'll look like new two years from now. Ok. That maybe stretching it a bit - but they'll be darn close. When following all care instructions, there is nothing more irritating than spending a fortune on a pair of jeans - and have them fade, stretch a full size larger, shrink, or fall apart. We sell a lot of jeans at POSH - and I receive the least complaints about JBRAND. I bought my first pair two years ago - and other than a slight bit of fading (which is expected when you wear them and wash them as much as I do, they look and feel just as good as the day that I bought them.

This event serves to showcase Sweden's superiority in so many categories: fashion, music, design, beverages...

One of our favorite brands, Rogues Gallery was just featured in the October issue of TIME Style & Design. Check out the article below; creator Alex Carleton discusses inspiration for the brand and why he left a killer job in the fashion industry to start a small nautically themed company out of Portland, Maine. Ms. Cheap wrote the following in the Tennessean:

"Posh, 131 Franklin St. in historic downtown Clarksville, 931-905-1500. This store with 'hip men's and women's fashions'' has two sister stores in Nashville, one in Hillsboro Village and one in the upscale Hill Center. The clearance merchandise from all the stores is concentrated in the Clarksville store's 50-75 percent off sale room. The front of the store is pretty much the same as the Nashville boutiques, but if you step to the back room, you'll be glad you did. There are also sale shoes at 20-75 percent off."

In other words, if you haven't been to our Clarksville location and you are looking for some fabulous deals, you can't say we didn't tell you so.

I'm Too Young For This

Earlier this month Posh participated in a cancer benefit fashion show & concert entitled "I'm Still Beautiful." Proceeds from event ticket sales went to I'm Too Young For This, an organization geared toward helping young people with cancer. The benefit was organized by Kimberly Novosel, a one-time Posh employee. Pictured in this photo: Kimberly, Terrah, and all the models from the fashion show (all of whom have been effected by cancer). As you can see from this photo, our area manager, Terrah (middle left) had a great time.

Attack of the Swedes!!!

This fall Posh introduced two very excellent brands from Sweden: Nudie & Acne. Watch the first half of the video below to catch Acne creator, Jonny Johansson discussing his inspiration for the brand. If you are so inclined, the second half of this video showcases Filippa K, another fine brand from Sweden.

Posh and Hill Center "Celebrate Style"

On Saturday, October 11th, the Hill Center hosted its first "Celebrate Style". Posh participated with a sidewalk sale of men's and women's clothing, as well as a promotion on denim. In addition, Posh did what Posh does best: we wrapped up the day with an unforgettable fashion show. We included looks from Trovata, D&G, Brynn Isom, Just Cavalli, American Retro, and more! Posh participates in "I'm Still Beautiful" cancer benefit hosted by Kimberly Novosel and I'm Too Young For This at Mercy Lounge. The benefit will include live performances by 5 bands, 3 DJs, and a fashion show. All models in the fashion show are young cancer survivors and will be wearing wigs made by a local hair designer. They will feature clothing by G-Star and Rogues Gallery, which will be provided by Posh. Make sure to come out and show your support!

A Decade of Style

Posh held our annual runway show in Green Hills on October 3rd, 2008. We featured our friends, J Shoes and took the oppotunity to show you the newest looks from both our 21st Avenue location and our location at Green Hills. Amy Halleran hosted a silent auction to support Fight for Lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Trills DJ'd and Stanton Photography took photos.

Stylish Nashvillians enjoyed the runway show at 9pm and many looks from the show were purchased. Check out photos from the event on poshonline.com.

The birthday celebration included champagne, beer, and appetizers. And if that wasn't enough, we were sure to arrive at our afterparty at Bar 23 in Posh style... a white limo. Happy Birthday Posh!
